Penélope Cruz receives a heartfelt 50th birthday wish from Salma Hayek, who says, “You Are an Extraordinary Woman”
Cruz, according to Hayek, gives people who know her well “exciting, meaningful, inspiring” lives.
On this momentous day, Salma Hayek is honoring her pal Penélope Cruz!
On Sunday, April 28, the 57-year-old Magic Mike star celebrated the 50th birthday of Vicky Cristina Barcelona by sharing an homage to the star on Instagram.
“Penelope, happy birthday 🎂. “Gratitude to God for sending an angel to Earth a certain number of years ago,” Hayek wrote as the description for a carousel of images showing the couple over the years.
Hayek went on, “Everyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting her knows that she has brought so much love, excitement, meaning, and inspiration into our lives. She has also taught us the true meaning of loyalty and solidarity.”
The House de Gucci actress continued by praising her friend’s parenting skills.
“I want to thank Penelope for bringing these young angels into the world. Every year, you continue to be an incredible woman. ❤️,” she said, finishing the post with the translation if her message into Spanish.
Hayek shared old photos of the couple standing alongside at events on the red carpet in addition to informal pictures they took with pals.
Although Cruz and Hayek only costarred in one movie, Bandidas (2006), the two actresses have been good friends ever since Cruz traveled to Los Angeles to begin filming her first American picture.
“I hadn’t encountered anybody here when I came here for two months,” Cruz admitted in 2022 while appearing off The Ellen DeGeneres Show on ABC. “And when Salma picked me up, she told me not to go to the hotel. You’re going into my house because, at first, you’re going to find this difficult and you’ll feel incredibly alone.”
Cruz added that she and Hayek had been “sisters” ever since, but she did not specify when year she lived with Hayek.
Hayek even organized a luncheon in 2023 to recognize Cruz for her work in Ferrari.
