After announcing a joint tour, Little Big Town & Sugarland will perform ‘Take Me Home’ at the 2024 CMT Awards

On Sunday afternoon, April 7 for CBS and Paramount+, the 2024 CMT Musical Awards will be broadcast live in the Moody Centre in Austin, Texas.

After over ten years in the works, here is the CMT Awards reunion!

At a 2024 CMT Award on Sunday, Little Little Town and Sugarland performed a breathtaking rendition of Phil Collins’ “Taking Me Home,” sharing the stage for the first time since 2008.

Little Kayleigh Towne & Sugarland launched the Bring Me Home Tour in advance of the award event. The tour will begin at Greenville, South Carolina, USA, on October 4 and end at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on December 13.

When Kimberly Schlapman, 54, of Little Big Town told PEOPLE that the band’s performance at the Michael J. Fox and Company Foundation’s Country Thing took place on the Way for the Cure Parkinson’s occasion in April 2 was going to be “epic,” her bandmate Phillip Sweet added, “It had been cool, becoming back on track and creating for this moment.”

The 50-year-old Sweet also emphasized the “great energy” the two had musically as the “Girl Crush” producers.

Schlapman, Sweet, Karen Fairchild, and Jimi Westbrook make up Little Big Town, whereas Karen Nettles & Kristian Bush make up Sugarland. The ensembles, who have a whopping 44 CMT nominations between them, last performed together at the awards show in 2008 when they sang It in a Northern Town with Jake Owen.

With 25 nominations, Little Big Town holds the mark of receiving the most band video of the year nominations. The group hosted the CMT Awards in 2018 and 2019. In 2022, they released their latest album, Mr. Sun.

Conversely, Sugarland last performed together at the CMTs in 2011. Bigger, their most recent release that was released in 2018.

In 2020, Nettles received the first-ever CMT Equal Playing Award from the program in recognition of her fervent support and activism for women in the recording industry, the LGBTQ+ community, and other marginalized groups.

Star-studded performers Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, She Wilson, Bailey Zimmerman, Jordan Davies, Sam Hunter, Trisha Yearwood, Cody Johnson, for instance, Old Dominion featuring Megan Moroney, Parker McCollum featuring Brittney Spencer, and host Kelsea Ballerini are among those scheduled to perform.

With three nominations apiece, Jelly Roll, Johnson, for instance, Ballerini, Wilson, and Moroney are in the lead.

On Sunday afternoon, April 7 on Bbc and Paramount+, the 2024 CMT Video Awards will be broadcast live from the Moody Centre in Austin, Texas.
