The ad, which features Affleck as a pop star wannabe, debuted right before the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Ben Affleck’s most recent Dunkin’ commercial quietly acknowledges his past!

In the one-minute commercial, “Dunkin’ ‘Popstar’ ft. Ben Affleck & Charli D’Amelio,” the 51-year-old actor is pursuing his dream of becoming a pop star, akin to his wife Lopez’s.

Affleck confers with music producers and stylists in the advertisement. Then, with a heavy Boston accent, he pretends to call his 54-year-old wife Lopez and inquires about her thoughts about him going by his stage name “BLo.”

At around the 40-second point of the advertisement, as he is receiving choreography advice from dancer & TikTok celebrity Charli D’Amelio, astute viewers will notice a paparazzi shot of Affleck frame in gold in his makeshift home room next to pictures of Lopez.

Did Ben Affleck actually work the Dunkin Donuts?

Officially, Ben Affleck is in on the joke. The J. Lo enthusiast and resident of Boston was spotted at a nearby Dunkin’ in Medford, Massachusetts. According to NBC 10 Boston and customer Lisa Mackay, he was filming a “commercial” in which he played an employee at the company.

The Jersey Girl actress is seen in the framed picture holding what look to be cartons of Dunkin’ donuts in place of a cup of coffee while sporting a blue blazer.

It’s not a perfect replica of the widely shared 2021 image of Affleck precariously balanced a Dunkin’ coffee atop a stack of mail, but it’s pretty close.

Affleck appeared in his first Super Bowl advert of the coffee and doughnut company in 2023, following the widespread success of his paparazzi images. This led to Affleck being named a confirmed brand ambassador for Dunkin’.

Where did Ben Affleck film Dunkin Donuts?

The commercial was filmed at a Dunkin’ in the Boston area for authenticity’s sake. Affleck not only directed and starred in it, but his and Damon’s company, Artists Equity, produced it internally as well.

Unquestionably, the easter egg fits with the advertisement, where the Bostonian also made fun of the “Sad Affleck” images that went viral on social media following Affleck’s 2023 Grammys trip with Lopez, during which he stayed silent the entire time.

The Air star’s career continues beyond the latest advertisement. He issued a caution at the end of the advertisement, saying, “overlook Boston…at your peril.” He also promoted Lopez’s next album by declaring, “This was me, now,” which happens to be the name of her project, while standing outside with a doughnut necklace on.
