A representative for Taylor Swift has responded to rumors that her pop idol father, Scott, got into a fight with an Australian cameraman early on Tuesday morning.

According to a statement from Swift’s representative to PEOPLE, two people were violently shoving them towards Taylor, pulling at her security guards, and threatening to toss a female employee into the water.

Australia’s Sky News revealed on Tuesday morning at local time that Scott, 71, was charged with punching a photographer on the city of Sydney North Shore just hours after her most recent performance.

Police said they were looking into a possible attack after an elderly man, 71, claimed to have assaulted a 51-year-old male near Neutral Bay Wharf at around 2:30 a.m. locally on Tuesday. They were unable to establish the identity of those involved.

The younger individual reported the incident, and North Shore Metropolitan Area Command officers are currently investigating. Police said the man did not need medical attention.
