Paula Abdul Says “What an Honor!” after praising Ariana Grande for her “Cold Hearted” references in the new “Yes, And?” video

Grande wrote on Instagram in response to Abdul, saying, “Thank you on your creativity as well as inspiring me.”

The Hollywood new song “Yes, And?” Ariana Grande asks fans to “say that s— with your chest,” and Paula Abdul complied on Friday after seeing the music video.

The 30-year-old pop sensation, Grande, received enthusiastic applause from Abdul, 61, for incorporating elements from her 1989 music video for “Cold Hearted,” which was released four years before to Grande’s birth, into the “Yes, And?” music video.

“Whoa! It was absolutely amazing to wake up to Ariana Grande paying respect to “Cold Hearted” in her brand-new music video, “yes, and?” Abdul posted on Instagram and X, the former Twitter. “What a privilege! Which aspect of the video was your favorite? Ari, I adore you!

“Sweetest queen! 🥺🥹, I love you too,” Grande retorted on Instagram. “I appreciate your genius and the endless inspiration you provide to me and so many others.”

Director of “Yes, And?” Christian Breslauer also posted a remark, saying, “This is one of my all-time favorite videos.” I hope you think we did this justice ❤️.

Fans first noticed that Grande’s video shared a plot, setup, and hat with Abdul’s “Cold Hearted” early on January 12. Abdul emphasized the point hours later in an Instagram post that included a side-by-side video comparison.

In their individual videos, pop stars don papillon hats and perform to choreography reminiscent of Bob Fosse.

The lead single from Grande’s upcoming seventh studio album, “Yes, And?”, is an invitation for critics to witness her perform.
Abdul invites critical record label execs to her rehearsals in “Cold Hearted.” Both shows leave their audience both impressed and flustered.

Although Abdul mostly avoided the executives, Grande deftly maneuvers around her detractors in the song’s bridge, revealing lyrics that seem to touch on a few recent events.

Grande sings, “Don’t remark on the way I look, do not reply.” “Your business is one that is mine. Whose [d—] I ride, and why you might care so much about it?

According to insiders who spoke with PEOPLE in July 2023, Grande, who started hinting at her first new solo song in three decades just recently, is dating her co-star on Wicked, Ethan Slater. In January 2023, Grande and her spouse Dalton Gomez got divorced.

In Wicked, Grande will play Glinda the Good Witch opposite Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba. Their two-part film adaption will premiere on November 27, 2024.
