Christina Aguilera Dons ‘The OG Trailblazer’ Burlesque Costume in Honor of Cher for Halloween

“I still find it unbelievable that I got to collaborate with such a legend!” Aguilera uttered

This Halloween, Christina Aguilera is going down memory lane!

The 42-year-old star of “Genie in a Bottle” dressed to honor a different performer who had a significant influence this year.

Aguilera posted a comment for a video on Instagram on Monday that made reference to her and Cher’s roles in the 2010 movie Burlesque, saying, “Tess & Ali 4EVER 🤍♾️🤍.”

The Grammy winner asked her costar in the video, lip-syncing to an audio clip of herself, what dance routine she would want to see. In response, 77-year-old Cher states that she was eager to witness “Wagon Wheel Watusi.”

In the behind-the-scenes footage, the Voice alum danced while posing in a photographic studio while wearing a provocative black leotard with links and fishnet stockings.

The naturally blonde changed up her look by sporting long, loose curls in black, a look that pays homage to Cher’s hairstyles.

“It’s only fitting to honor the legendary trailblazer @cher on my most beloved day of the year,” Aguilera wrote in an ulterior Instagram carousel including pictures of the edited session.

“I still cannot comprehend how I got the chance to work beside such a legend; Cher’s statement with her lyrics and style has made an indelible impression on the world!!!!”

The singer of “Lady Marmalade” switched up her look in the upload, sporting a sheer, blinged-out onesie along with a form-fitting, strappy black floor-length dress.

“There will never be another Cher, the great and powerful. Aguilera said, “I have the utmost respect and love for you 🖤⚓️.”

The “Beautiful” singer plays Alice Marilyn in the movie, a small-town singer who moves to Los Angeles to pursue her goals after leaving Iowa. Once there, she finds herself employed by Cher’s persona Tess Scali as a drinks waiter at the Burlesque Lounge.

The “Believe” singer’s first cinematic musical was called Burlesque.

Clint Culpepper, the president of Screen Gems at the time, revealed that he had been hoping to see Cher return to the screen for a while.

In 2009, Culpepper stated, “She adds a soulfulness & depth to this individual which will ground the story.” “Chris is the one individual who was happier than I am right now.”

A decade later, Entertainment Weekly met up with a few of the actors and actresses to hear their thoughts on the movie in a 2020 interview.

“I was already familiar with the background and allure of this world, conceptually, since I had always been inspired by vintage pin-up art and burlesque fashion, which are basically all things that celebrate the female body and sexuality,” Aguilera said to the publication.

Costumes designer Michael Kaplan continued, “I sought a modern take on erotica combined a retro feel and an allusion to its history and origins.” “Crucial behavior without being overt! There are hints of the Follies Bergère, the Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris, the musical Cabaret, and the 1960s television series Hullabaloo.
