After posting about the Israel-Hamas conflict on social media, Melissa Barrera was fired from the Next Scream sequel

The actress portrayed Sam Carpenter in the movies “Scream” from 2022 and “Scream VI” this year.

There will be no more Melissa Barrera in the next Fear sequel.

According to Variety & The Hollywood Reporter, the actress, 33, was kicked out of the cast of the upcoming seventh episode of the horror franchise because of her social media statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict. As a result, she will no longer be starring in the film.
Insiders saw Barrera’s remarks as antisemitic, Variety said.

The studio that created Scream VII, Spyglass, declined to comment. PEOPLE’s requests for comments were not answered by Barrera’s representatives.

Barrera purportedly said, “I was diligently searching for films as well as details about the Palestinian side for the past two weeks or so, following accounts etc.” in a written post from her Instagram Story that was included in the story and went viral on social media following the announcement. How come? because the other side is all that is seen by Western media. I’ll let you figure out reasons they do that on your own.

In the films Scream from 2022 and Scream VI from this year, Barrera played Sam Carpenter. She debuted as the daughter of Scream villain William Loomis (Skeet Ulrich). The plan was for the character to take over as the new franchise star, replacing Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott.

Tera (Jenna Ortega) is the older sister of Barrera’s Sam.

The Scream VI cast also featured Jasmin Paris Brown, Mason Gooding, Courteney Cox, a former member of Scream, and Hayden Panettiere from Scream IV, in addition to Barrera and Ortega. (David Arquette and Eve Campbell were also in the fifth Scream; however, Campbell missed the sixth Scream because of a disagreement over a contract.)

Christopher Landon, the filmmaker of Happy Death Day, will helm the seventh Scream. After co-directing Scream (2022) and Scream VI, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be replaced by Landon.
