Silvina Luna, a performer and former model from Argentina, passed away at the age of 43 after spending 79 days in the hospital for kidney issues brought on by an unsuccessful Brazilian butt lift treatment in 2011.
Silvina Luna, an Argentine actress, passed away on Friday, August 31. According to mirror.co.uk, she spent 79 days in the hospital at Hospital Italiano getting treatment for problems from her operation in 2011.
Her older brother, Ezequiel Luna, reportedly gave the go-ahead for physicians to take her off of the ventilator on Thursday at noon. The devastating loss was described as “an ending that aches, hurts” by Silvina’s lawyer, Fernando Burlando.
He hopes that her fight will alert authorities, causing society to pay attention and preventing further fatalities. During June or July of 2011, cosmetic physician Anibal Lotocki performed the treatment on the actress.
A patient who underwent surgery on him in 2010 died in 2021, and Dr. Lotocki is now facing charges. He injected Silvina with a substance that was prohibited by Argentina’s National Agency of Drugs, Food, and Medical Technology, polymethylmethacrylate-containing liquid.
When Silvina underwent surgery for kidney stones in 2015, she had her first medical emergency. She was put on a weekly dialysis schedule until a kidney transplant became available after she was identified with a weak kidney and excess calcium by medical professionals.
She went to Miami in 2016 and met with Argentinian physician Critsitan Perez, who took out the harmful material from her buttocks. He said in a statement to C5N television that “Silvina developed an autoimmune condition as a result of the drugs as a result of her surgery. All sufferers experience severe renal failure and pass away.
As Silvina awaited a new kidney, her condition worsened, and on June 13 she was admitted to the hospital. Prior to being taken off the ventilator on June 29, she was sedated for about two weeks.
According to the hospital, Silvina was “breathing on herself, along with kinesiological, nutritional, and psychological rehabilitation” on August 19. But recently, she caught a bug, and on Wednesday, August, she had to have another intubation.
Silvina’s death is the subject of an investigation by the Argentina Attorney General’s Office, which also mandated that her body be sent to a local morgue for an autopsy. She passed away barely two weeks after fashionista and TV host Mariano Caprarola passed away as a result of complications from a butt lift procedure done by Dr. Lotocki in 2010.
Silvina, the and two other women sued Dr. Lotocki for medical misconduct, and Dr. Lotocki received a four-year prison term in February 2022. He was denied permission to practice medical for five years by a court in July.
The surgeon is not, though, in jail. The National Chamber of Criminal Courts is still considering his punishment, but he is still free.
